Bring old pictures to life and enjoy them on a slideshow

When my mother in law was about to turn 70, her children asked me if there was a way I could scan all of their old photographs and make some home movies out of them. At the time I was home bound and unable to work due to a torn calf muscle (for a wonderful 30 days) so I said sure. Everyone had one of a kind snapshots of them and family members, alot of which I had never seen before.

With the extra time on my hands, I went full tilt on making the home movies and knew next to nothing about what I was doing. But by the end of the month and after purchasing a few necessary software programs I had accomplished the task with 26 music videos.

When the party for her birthday rolled around a projector screen was borrowed we watched some great music videos with songs like The beverly hillbilies, The Adams Family, The Streak, (wonderful for those baby shots of first baths), and alot of sentimental one's.

I also made CD's with all the pictures I had scanned so that all of her children would have copies of the pictures that they had never owned.

Since then I have made other videos for Father's Day, Christmas, etc....

So to make your own home videos: (Further information can be found within each link)

1. First - SCAN ALL THOSE PHOTOS - even the UGLY ones! Some of the facial expressions went great with the funny songs.
2. Use some software such as Windows Movie Maker to creat a music slideshow. There are differnt types available on the software page.
3. If you don't have a DVD burner - you can still creat movies that can be played on the newer versions of DVD players. (Older DVD players won't be able to play them on the TV). Otherwise - your DVD burner usually came with it's own software. If you have to do it without the DVD burner see the software page for available programs that can convert WMV files to mpeg files to be able to play on the TV. Otherwise they can be played on the computer without having to convert them.
